For this project, I was investigating two questions. The first question was: How
crowded are the states? The second question was: How diverse are the states? In
order to research this question, I decided to look at the populations and
diversity of 20 states. I selected the states by picking them from different
areas around the United States. I made sure to pick states from different
regions.
In the states I chose, I noticed that there were trends in how crowded the
population was. Since California has a big population the surrounding states
didn't get as many people. Also, since Texas has a large population the other
surrounding states showed the same trend as those surrounding California. On the
eastern side of the United States of America it the population is very well
spread out. In the northern part of U.S.A there are less people then in the
southern part of U.S.A. However, the northern states were more crowded than the
southern states.

When I was looking at diversity, I was looking for a balanced
population of different ethnic groups. Some states in the United States of
America are not diverse at all. Alaska and Hawaii were some of the most diverse
states because all their people were evenly spread out. I was not surprised at
all. Maine was the least diverse with an overwhelmingly 96.7% white along with
the state Vermont. Pennsylvania is smack in the middle of all the states in
diversity. Most of every states population is not really diverse at all in my
opinion.
